Katie is an executive producer and senior producer with over 20 years experience of making documentary series, singles and feature docs. Her films have frequently been at the cutting edge of documentary film-making and have won numerous awards. She is at home with complex access, sensitive topics and vulnerable contributors.
In 2020 Katie founded Big Sister Films, a female-focused production company specialising in premium documentaries. Its first feature doc How to Leave a Cult is now in production. Katie has also produced feature docs for Oscar winner Kevin Macdonald including 2020: The Story of Us about the first wave of Covid (Broadcast nominated and Grierson shortlisted).
As Creative Director at Sundog Pictures from 2018-2020, Katie was the exec producer on Grierson and Broadcast Award nominated What’s the Matter with Tony Slattery?, which was the highest rated Horizon for 4 years and on BBC3 hit series The Surrogates (also Broadcast nominated). As Head of Docs at Keo Films Katie was responsible for Broadcast, RTS and Grierson winner The Romanians are Coming and three series of Skint (Grierson-nominated and rated 3.3M).
Katie’s work as an exec for Minnow, Lightbox and Films of Record includes American Justice (nominated for Grierson and RTS Awards), Inside British Vogue (Grierson shortlisted) and BBC3 hit Love and Drugs on the Street (topped I-player). As a director Katie is best known for Extraordinary Breastfeeding (rated 3.8M) and Grierson-shortlisted George Melly’s Last Stand
