Two Stern & Wild clients in contention for this year’s Grierson Awards
Huge congratulations to Stern & Wild filmmakers Miles Blayden-Ryall and Jasleen Kaur Sethi whose brilliant recent projects have been nominated for this year’s Grierson Awards.
Miles directed, filmed and edited Silverback, a feature-length documentary following wildlife cameraman Vianet Djenguet as he joins the effort to protect the critically endangered eastern lowland gorillas of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The film is in contention for the Best Natural History or Environmental Documentary award. It previously won the Grand Teton award, People & Nature, the Long Form award and the On Screen Personality (Vianet Djenguet) award at the 2023 Jackson Wild Media Awards.
Jasleen is writer and director of Ellie Simmonds: Finding My Secret Family a 60-minute documentary which explores the relationship between disability and adoption as it follows gold-medal winning Paralympian Ellie Simmonds search for her birth mother who gave her up for adoption after only two weeks. The film is in contention for the Envy Best Single Documentary – Domestic award. It previously won the 2024 BAFTA television award for best single documentary.
The winners will be announced at the annual Grierson awards ceremony which takes place this year on Wednesday 6 November at the Roundhouse in London. We wish Miles, Jasleen and all their colleagues the very best of luck.
