Another award nod for the brilliant doc Silverback

Congratulations to Stern & Wild filmmaker Miles Blayden-Ryall whose amazing conservation documentary Silverback has been nominated for a BAFTA Television Craft Award in the Photography: Factual category.

Miles directed, filmed and edited the feature-length production which follows wildlife cameraman Vianet Djenguet as he joins the effort to protect the critically endangered eastern lowland gorillas of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is produced by Off the Fence and France Télévisions for the BBC in association with Featuristic Films.

Silverback has already been widely acclaimed. It was recently nominated for a Banff World Media Festival Rockie Award and an RTS Programme Award. In 2024, it was the winner of the best Natural History or Environmental Documentary prize at the Grierson Awards and won a trio of prizes at the 2023 Jackson Wild Media Awards: the Grand Teton Award; the People & Nature, Long Form Award; and the On Screen Personality Award (Vianet Djenguet).

The winners of the BAFTA TV Craft Awards will be announced on Sunday 27 April. For a full list of nominees, click here.
