Nat Geo trails Endurance, a tale of two polar expeditions
National Geographic has released the official trailer for the groundbreaking documentary Endurance, which premiered at the BFI London Film Festival earlier this month. The 100-minute film tells the story of polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton and his crew’s extraordinary feat of survival during the ill-fated Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1914-1917) and the search by modern-day explorers to find his sunken ship.
Endurance is the latest project from Stern & Wild filmmaker Natalie Hewit. It is a Nat Geo production in partnership with History Hit, the content platform co-founded by historian and broadcaster Dan Snow, All3Media’s Little Dot Studios and production company Consequential. Natalie is a producer on the film and co-directed alongside Oscar-winning directors Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin.
It is set to be released on Nat Geo in the US on Friday, 1 November and will be available to stream on Disney+ and Hulu the day after. UK lovers of the big screen experience can catch the film beforehand. There are three additional LFF-associated screenings coming up which include in-person Q&As with either Dan Snow or polar geographer and expedition leader John Shears. More widely, the film is currently on release in selected cinemas across the UK. For dates and tickets for both types of screening, visit the distributor’s website here.
