Stern & Wild filmmaker’s compelling take on the tragedy of murdered London sisters set for May launch
Huge respect to Stern & Wild client Alex Thomas, Series Director of the newly announced Sky Original docuseries Bibaa & Nicole: Murder in the Park, which tells the story behind the shocking killings of sisters Bibaa Henry and Nicole Smallman, and the police misconduct that followed.
The three-part series is one of four new true crime commissions unveiled by Sky this week. It pieces together the disturbing series of events surrounding the murder of the two sisters in a London park following a birthday celebration as Covid restrictions on gatherings were eased in the summer of 2020. It uncovers the failure of the police to begin a search when the women are reported missing, the tragic discovery of their bodies by friends and family, and the shocking betrayal of trust when the women’s bodies are photographed and shared on social media by the police officers tasked with protecting the crime scene.
The filmmakers intend this series to honour the lives of Bibaa 46, a dedicated social worker and Nicole 26, a talented freelance photographer, as it asks difficult questions about institutional racism, the wider epidemic of violence against women and girls, and examines the injustices exposed by this case.
It is a True Vision TV production for Sky Documentaries. The Executive Producer is Brian Woods for True Vision TV and Kathryn Taylor and Gilberte Phanor for Sky. Lindsay Konieczny is the Producer/Director with Alex as Series Director and Sian Guerra as Series Producer. It will premiere on Sky Documentaries and the streaming service NOW in May this year.
