Stern & Wild filmmakers' projects in the running for 2025 Realscreen Awards
We are delighted to announce six productions made by eight Stern & Wild clients have been selected for the 2025 Realscreen Awards Program Competition, which recognizes outstanding non-fiction and unscripted content from around the world.
The amazing Nat Geo docuseries Arctic Ascent with Alex Honnold is nominated in the Lifestyle strand’s Travel & Exploration category. The three-part series was produced by Plimsoll Productions and follows world-class climbers Alex Honnold (Free Solo), Hazel Findlay and Mikey Schaefer as they explore Greenland and its unclimbed peaks while witnessing firsthand the impact of climate change. Stern & Wild’s Matt Pycroft was Director on the project.
Five of the projects are nominated for awards in the Non-fiction strand. The feature length documentary The Man Who Stole The Scream, a Curve Media production for Sky is nominated in the Arts & Culture category. A thrilling film telling the story of the audacious theft of the world-famous painting during the 1994 Winter Olympic Games, and the sting operation organised to retrieve it. Stern & Wild’s Nigel Levy was one of the project’s Directors.
The docuseries Evolution Earth, a Passion Planet co-production with PBS, ARTE and Love Nature is nominated in the Environmental & Natural History category. A brilliant five-part series revealing how animals across the world are keeping pace with a planet changing at superspeed. Stern & Wild’s John Hodgson was a Script Editor on the project.
The fantastic Nat Geo docuseries Erased: WW2’s Heroes of Colour is one of two projects from Stern & Wild filmmakers nominated in the History & Biography category. Produced by October Films in collaboration with Idris Elba’s 22Summers, the four-part series reveals the untold stories of some of the eight million soldiers of colour who fought for the Allies during the Second World War. Stern & Wild clients on the production were Johanna Gibbon, Executive Producer, Annabel Hobley, Co-Executive Producer and Alex Thomas, Director.
Also in this category is the riveting BBC/CNN docuseries Secrets & Spies: A Nuclear Game which explores the world of 1980s Cold War espionage. Stern & Wild’s Kate Quine was Series Director.
The final Non-fiction nomination is for the Nat Geo docuseries Lost Cities Revealed with Albert Lin which is competing in the Science & Technology category. The six-part series follows the renowned US explorer Lin as he goes in search of ancient lost cities in some of the world’s most remote and hostile environments. Stern & Wild’s Eoin O'Shea was the Showrunner and Series Director.
The awards ceremony will take place on 4 February next year as part of the Realscreen Summit in Miami (3-5 February 2025). Good luck to all. We’ll be watching.
